Zarif meets with his Thai counterpart

BANGKOK, Mar. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif who launched his 11-day Asia-Pacific tour on Monday, met with Thai counterpart at the 4th leg of his tour in Bangkok on Thursday.

The potentials of expanding bilateral ties in different areas of economic interests are high and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for activating those potentials, said Iran’s Zarif to his Thai counterpart on Thursday.

At the 4th stop of his Southeastern Asia and Oceania tour, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Thailand’s capital of Bangkok late on Wednesday and attended the 14th Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting (ACD MM14) in Bangkok before holding bilateral meetings with Thai officials.

During his meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Iranian chief of diplomacy congratulated his counterpart for successful running of the ACD MM14 and referring to the numerous meetings of the Thai and Iranian officials in the course of the last two years, described the bilateral relations with bright perspective.

Pramudwinai for his part in the meeting touched upon the positive outcomes of his visit to Tehran and voiced Bangkok’s readiness for boosting trade and economy ties with Tehran.  

After the meeting, Mr. Zarif and his entourage were treated to a celebratory supper with Thai foreign ministry officials.

Zarif started his 11-day tour of six countries of the Southeastern Asia and Oceania on Monday with paying an official visit to Indonesian capital city of Jakarta and after meeting with officials of Singapore and Brunei at the second and third legs of his trip landed in Bangkok late on Wednesday.

The Iranian top diplomat will wrap up his expedition with paying visit to New Zealand and Australia as the last leg of his six-nation tour.
